Set in the heart of the Cape Winelands is a craft brewery named after the Wild Beasts (Wildebeest) which roam the lands (and eat the spent grain). A brewery that was forged from a passion for beer and the adventure of brewing amongst friends. Brothers Chris (crafts the beer) and Rob (drinks and sells the beer) are on a mission to create beers of unique character and individuality using the finest local and imported malts, freshest hops and cleanest water sourced 200 metres below ground. Brewed in small batches all beers undergo a 2 week primary fermentation followed by another 2 weeks of conditioning in the bottle and the result is an outrageous ale as full of character as the Wildebeest after whom it is named.

Wild beast blonde ale

A honey gold beer topped with a creamy foam, unfiltered and slightly hazy. This beer is a blend of four malts and two hop varieties. A beer for breakfast, malty as opposed to hoppy with a perfect balance between fruitiness and bitterness.

Wild beast amber ale

A dark copper colour. A fruity nose gives way to well balanced flavours of roasted malt with undertones of fresh hops. Imported speciality malts give a smokiness with fruity American west coast hops bringing freshness, balance and bitterness to the palate. A beer for a braai!

Wild beast stout

Intense ink black colour with a creamy golden head. Roasted coffee and coco on the nose with a rich, creamy pallet and a dry finish.

The Brewery

The brewery is set in the oldest building on the farm, dating back to 1812. The old walls are a metre thick and provide excellent insulation. We replaced the ceiling, cast a new concrete floor and installed cooling. We brew in 500 litre batches and ferment in 1,000 litre fermenters in a temperature controlled cold room. All beers are bottle conditioned for a minimum of 14 days at 18 to 22 degrees Celsius.
